5.5 Months Old
How did it get to be July already? This summer is flying. My baby girl is 5.5 months old and can sit up on her own - craziness! 'Little Boomer' continues to be a joy by day and a ... well ... not so full of joy at night. She is now eating every 2 hours round the clock which means ... yes ... during the night as well. I know this phase shall pass and luckily I am still getting a decent amount of sleep - just not any large contiguous chunks. Now as long as I can stay healthy - I'll be happy. Kelsey on the other hand got diagnosed with her first ear infection (left ear) on her '5.5 Month Birthday'. She has been on the amoxicillin - which she takes like a champ - for two days now and we are hoping for a better night tonight. Her teeth are still bugging her lots - she can soak through a shirt with drool in a matter of hours. She is loving cold teething toys so we keep a whole basket of them in the fridge - and the spare pacis too. We also take a cooler with ice packs and toys wherever we go so she's always got something cold to chew on. That seems to help and she is usually very content and happy during the day. We've also used tylenol and Motrin to help on days when her teeth are getting the best of her. Kelsey is sitting up really well now on her own - so much so that I can set her down and run to the kitchen and grab a drink or my camera or whatever and run back without worrying about her toppling over. She also is working hard at trying to make her body scoot when she is on her tummy. One month from now, I am betting that she'll be starting to 'army crawl'. A week or so ago we gave Kelsey her first taste of baby oatmeal. She did a great job at eating it off the spoon. She got fussy later that week so we stopped with the cereal for a while. Today we tried sweet potatoes and she loved them too! So far her tummy seems okay so maybe we'll stick with them and skip cereal for a while. Kelsey also loves to suck on pears in her little net-feeder thingie. Sometimes she seems extra gassy after having pear, so we aren't sure if those bug her or not either. She is still scheduled to have allergy testing done later this month so that will give us better insights on what she can and can't eat. For now we are just dabbling with solid foods. Other 'firsts' for this 1/2 month include taking a bath in the big tub with Big Sissy and drinking milk out of her sippy cup! Wow - my Baby is growing up so quickly!

Quite the Mess ...
Yes .... that is what you think it is .... and yes, the exersaucer seat and bottom looked nearly that bad too! But oh what a happy baby we had to follow that 'explosion!'

Scrub a Dub Dub ...
... two Girlies in the tub! Now that Kelsey is sitting well, we thought we'd try out giving both girls a bath at once. For now Kaitlyn enjoys sharing her tub time.... hopefully that will last. And Kelsey adores taking a bath with Big Sissy! Happy Splashing!
Cereal Time!
In late June when Kelsey was nearly 5.5 months old, we put her in the high chair and made our attempt at feeding her cereal for the first time. We tried oatmeal instead of rice cereal in the hopes that we wouldn't add to her constipation troubles. She did a great job slurping in the running mixture off the spoon and thankfully the cereal didn't seem to upset her stomach a bit.

My Sippy!
Also in Kelsey's fifth sixth month of life, we let her try out her sippy cup. Mostly she enjoyed gnawing on the spout. She did surprise herself a couple times and actual suck down some liquid. Fun fun! Kelsey Paige, you are growing up too fast!

All by myself!
Twice a day we give Kelsey her Prevacid Solutab medicine in a syringe, dissolved in water. We usually squeeze it into her mouth and let her swallow it. Well one day I just handed her the syringe before I was ready to give it to her and much to my surprise, she sucked the entire contents right out of it! Perfect! Giving medicine has never been so easy!
