Daddy Daughter Dance

Kaitlyn and Jeff had a wonderful time at their first ever Daddy Daughter dance this winter. The event was held at Kaitlyn's school and included some dancing, snacks and a professional photo. Kaitlyn's favorite parts were doing the Hokey Pokey, the Chicken Dance and watching some of the Daddys play musical chairs. I was thrilled when they arrived home early with some tasty brownie sundaes for dessert! Thank you for being Daddy's special date, KK!

Snow Day Fun

This is how Kaitlyn kept busy during the Blizzard of 2011.
Dressed for a rainbow-themed school play.

Where is Kelsey?

My oh my was she having fun playing this hide and seek game!

Winterfest with Daddy!

One snowy Saturday in January, Jeff and Kaitlyn donned lots of layers and headed to Grand Haven for their annual Winterfest. They started out taking a trolley to the sledding hill where they watched the Cardboard Box Races. Kaitlyn's favorite box was the pink Barbie car! Then they headed to the downtown toy store and grabbed a bite to eat. Later they headed to the set of scheduled kid's events. Kaitlyn's favorite was watching the gerbil races! What a fun Daddy-Daughter Day!

Kaitlyn M.D.

The Silly Doctor ... (who was also playing Potato Head this morning, hence the teeth)
The well taken care of Patients.

The 'Bottle'

We were playing doctor one morning and Kelsey took a liking to one of the empty Zyrtec bottles that are in our toy 'pharmacy kit'. She ended up carrying that bottle - or one of the similar ones - around the entire day. It was the first thing she picked up when she woke up from her nap and the last thing she put down before going to bed. And she did the same thing the following day. Hilarious!

Sneaky...

Look who snuck into big Sissy's room, opened her drawer and found her stash of old cherished pacis. She even tried it out or a brief second before deciding it was definitely not for her!

Blizzard of 2011

On Groundhog's Day of 2011 we woke up to almost 18 inches of new snow. Combine that with some gusty winds and we had some drifts over 4 feet tall in our yard. Schools were closed for two days and we were literally 'snowed in'! What fun it was to get outside and explore the drifts and build tunnels; I haven't been in snow that deep in years!

We were anxious to get outside so when Daddy got home and started snowblowing, we went out in the garage to say "hi". Kelsey wasn't sure who Daddy was all dressed in his snow gear.

Kaitlyn actually could slide on her tube down this drift in our backyard!

Snow Baby!

We took Kelsey out for her first real snow experience on a mild day at the end of January. She absolutely loves being outdoors. And she absolutely despises mittens. We got her to keep them on for five minutes or so and then she got them off and was much happier. I can only imagine how much fun we are all going to have in the snow next year!

Groundhog's Day Eve

With our toddler girls on different nap schedule, we had to be creative and schedule an early morning pajama playdate with our good friends Josh, Brianna and Miss Jamie on the Eve of Groundhog's Day. We started the playdate off with rainbow pancakes and sausage. After playing for an hour or so, Miss Jamie took Brianna home for her nap and Josh stayed and played. He and Kaitlyn had fun making Groundhog puppets, decorating Groundhog cupcakes and playing the Wii. It was certainly a fun morning with friends!
