14 Months Old!

Kelsey was sick for nearly her entire 14th month of life. Poor peanut. She caught a nasty two week long cold virus from Kaitlyn in mid to late February, along with another ear infection. Luckily, we switched Kelsey to a new doctor that is just two minutes away from home; our previous doctor was over 20 minutes away. Distance matters when you see the doctor four times in six days! My cousin got us in to see her ENT doctor in record time and Kelsey got tubes in her ears on March 1st. She had just a couple days of reprieve before she came down with a bronchitis like virus that required more antibiotics and nebulizer treatments. It took another two week for her to get over that! But finally by the middle of March, we had a happy, painfree baby.... for a week or so, that is ... before those top molars starting making their way into existence. And so we are back to motrin, frozen teethers, oragel and flavor ices - Kelsey's new favorite treat! She can even eat them all by herself, pushing it up from the bottom and taking a bite off the top - so cute! So despite being sick from the majority of the month, Kelsey is growing lots and learning plenty of new things. She is wearing all 18 month clothing now and has grown out of her 12-18m shoes. The back of her hair continues to grow (and curl - yippee) like crazy; now if only we could get some more on the top so that I could put a bow in. . . nevermind the bows - she won't leave them in anyways! Kelsey's two favorite forms of entertainment this past month have been watching Dora and carrying around her blankie and tugging at my pant legs to be held ... seriously. So this Mommy got LOTS and LOTS of snuggles day and night and that is something I'll never get sick of. We did manage to have some fun too, however. Kelsey enjoyed our trips outdoors and often stands in front of the door and signs 'Open', begging to go outside. She continues to love to climb on EVERYTHING and likes to carry the Dora stool around, position it just perfectly in front of a place she wants to climb, set it down and then tah-dah - reach whatever she wants. She also figured out how to push a kitchen stool down the hallway and into the bathroom, as she still loves to play in the water in the sink. We experimented with coloring and paint-with-water projects this past month and Kelsey enjoyed both, although she ended up tasting the markers and spilling the water ... but I guess that is to be expected. Not too many new words or signs to share this month, although Kelsey is now reacting to commands from characters on tv - she'll dance or wiggle when Dora dances, wave bye-bye when someone on tv waves to her etc... Not sure if I should be proud of those accomplishments but after the month of sickness we've had (Kaitlyn also had those 2 two-week bugs as well) I'll take it! Enjoy these pictures of my curious little Princess.
Exploring in Big Sissy's room.
Sleeping best in the stroller since she was so stuffed up.

She just LOVES to run down the driveway....

Poor Baby ... sleeping on this special reflux wedge we have ... because she is so congested and coughing so much she vomits. :(
Snuggling and watching Dora. Would you believe she laid there for more than 20 minutes watching the show? Now that is a sick baby.

Trying to see what Sissy is doing. Notice she climbed up the bottom step!
Pushing Baby Ginny.
She loves to empty our basket of 'kid' plates and then put them all away.
Climbing on the stool.
Oh how she loves - and attacks - my laptop when she gets the chance.
Playing with Grandpa.
She also enjoys getting all the Jello boes out of the cupboard. On this day she carried each of them, two at a time, to the little table, set them down and then carried them back.
Awww..
A bow!
Kelsey is really getting into books now, especially the Usborne touchy-feely ones and any that are 'lift the flap'.
Feeding herself. The crazy girl still LOVES baby oatmeal so we mix it with applesauce and feed it to her before bed every night.
My little 'Linus' with her blankie. That was a VERY common sight this past month.
Kelsey loves putting objects into something and then taking them out. She is putting clothespins in a box; a color matching game I made for Kaitlyn only I had to remove the colored clothes pins because she was sucking on them and then turned her lips colors!

Getting into Sissy's stuff!

Mommy's girl!

Talking? on the toy remote!

tunnel or highchair?
if you look close you'll see that she has opened up the reclining couch - somethign she loves to do since its done by the push of a button - and reaching under trying to grab a toy!
Dropping balls down the stairs..... a favorite pasttime.

Kelsey just LOVES playing with the dollhouse babies. Her little fine motor skills are getting so good as she can now put the babies in their beds, high chairs and strollers!

She loves to point out the Dora's on KK's bike. She also loves to go for rides on the bike too.
Lots and lots of vaporizer use this past month!
Looking forward to a healthier Spring!!
