7 Weeks Old!
Gas drops, hot water bottles, the bathroom fan, a running faucet, lactase enzyme drops, warm blankets, cherry flavored mylanta, a cd of heatbeat noises and soft music .... what do those things have in common??? They are all the ways we attempt to soothe our aching baby. Though grunting and groaning and moaning most of the day, when we see her bright smile, the day always gets better. Kelsey is a trooper and a sweet little princess. She is growing like crazy and will be moving into 3-6 month clothing very soon. She will smile at anyone who she can get to make eye contact with her and most recently she coos and acts like shes trying to talk. She is so alert and loves to look around. Her favorite things to look at are the ceiling fan, the mirror and garland in our bathroom, sun shining through the window or blinds and of course - her big sister Kaitlyn! We are so happy that Kelsey is now a 'happy spitter' and is no longer in pain from her reflux. However we are still struggling with tummy issues that cause her to grunt and scream in pain and arch her back. Her face, scalp and neck are also covered with excema which is also indicative of a food intolerance. So we are using only Dreft soap now for all of our laundry in the hopes that maybe its a contact allergy instead of a food one. I have now also eliminated dairy, soy and corn syrup from my diet in attempts to pinpoint what it is that is causing her such grief. In the next few weeks we are hoping to get a bloodtest done on her to see if she does indeed react to dairy or soy; I guess at this young age those are the only two items that you can test for. We are always waiting to get an appointment setup with a pediatric gastroenterologist. Apparently that is a very secure profession because it can take up to 3 weeks to even get an appointment setup and they are scheduling into May right now - craziness.
While not quite 100% good health, we know things could be so much worse and so we count our blessings and we thank the Lord for our two beautiful girls each day.
