Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!
Kaitlyn loves to read Dr. Seuss books! I catch her just rambling off some of the rhyming phrases while she plays and its music to my ears! This week Kaitlyn and I celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday with a variety of fun foods, crafts, games and events. On Monday we read The Cat and the Hat and played a rhyming game with our own 'big red Fun in a Box' box. On Tuesday we read 10 Apples up on Top and then made our Cat in the Hat hat. On Wednesday we read Green Eggs and Ham. To my surprise Kaitlyn LOVED the green eggs I made her. She insisted that we had to turn her ham green too so we did that also. How funny that for breakfast on Friday she requested green eggs again! Also on Wednesday we made a fun Green Eggs and Ham craft. On Thursday we read the Foot Book. Kaitlyn had fun making colorful footprints on a paper 'runway' that I made for her. She also setup a HUGE shoe store for us to pretend with. On Friday we read Kaitlyn's favorite story - the Sneeches. We acted out a game demonstrating fair and unfairness - the moral of that story and we also found some hidden Sneech Stars throughout the house. And then on Friday afternoon we made fish and feet shaped sugar cookies and we also spelled out Dr. Seuss with. Fun!
The 'Grand Finale' of the week was to attend a 'Dr Seuss Birthday party at the Coopersville Library. We listened to Dr. Seuss stories, made a 'One Fish Two Fish' bookmark and most importantly, had birthday cake with Thing One, Thing Two and the Cat in the Hat! What a great week we had. Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!
